Gap has some awesome cozy sweatshirt gear, in basic colors, so that you can wear your flashiest leggings or shorts for a festive pair! I love the quality of Gap sweatshirts and have had a few of mine for years.

Last, but not least, my favorite place to find basic tees and long sleeves for ultimate coziness is Forver21. Sure, J Crew has some amazingly soft tees, but if you can’t find them on clearance or at J crew Factory, then you’re best bet is Forever21. The tees don’t have quite the lasting power of the J Crew variety, but they’ll set you back only a few bucks and they are great under sweatshirts and big chunky scarves!

Have you started your countdown to cozy Thanksgiving sweats time?!

Tour Through Blogland

Thanks so much to Mar at to & fro for linking to SnapGinger on her Tour Through Blogland. This is such a fun concept! Now, to the burning questions that everyone wants answered!

What are you working on now?

I am putting the finishing touches on my photos, crafts, recipes and other projects for my Home for the Holidays series. Every Monday leading up to Christmas, I will have a new post for you full of Holiday crafts, gifts, ideas and all the trimmings! Follow along with me to make your Christmas beautiful, easy and fun! Keep an eye out for it, coming soon to a Snappy blog near you 😉

How does your work differ from others in its genre?

My favorite posts to write (and read) are useful tutorials, round-ups, recipes and tips. I spend a log of time scouring Pinterest and my fave sites to find any new ideas I can. I am always trying new things at home, so I like to share what I have found to be the best and easiest in my own experience. If I don’t think the post is useful or beautiful, I won’t publish it. I don’t find my personal life enthralling enough to write more candid posts than weekend round-ups, and there are bloggers out there doing that so well, writing hilarious posts that I can’t compete with. Sparing you is my small contribution to my corner of the web. 😉

Why do you write/create what you do?

I love having the creative outlet that my blog allows me, and I love sharing new and useful ideas with as many people as I can. Whether my post contains a quick tutorial, a yummy recipe, some housewifey tips or a new fashion or beauty brand, I can’t wait to post it and share it. I want everyone to have a good experience with a product I’ve used or a recipe I’ve made, and often I’m antsy to hit publish and get a post out there!

How does your writing/creative process work?

I keep a blog planner (an amazing one that I won from Plum Paper Designs) which helps me to lay out my month in advance. I use colored mini post its from the dollar store to classify my posts into my 4 general content topics: Beauty, Recipes, Entertaining, Home. This way I can tell if one week might be too heavy on beauty tips, I will try to spread those out and include a recipe to keep it interesting! I write whenever I can, life and a full time job don’t allot me as much time as I would like for blogging. But I make it work! And I make it fun!

Beautify with the Aztec City Palette

http://www.brandbacker.com/bob_cl_tk.jsvar search_me = ‘168_32416’; var scriptElems = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’), i=scriptElems.length – 1, curLoc; for (; i; –i) { curLoc = scriptElems[i]; if (‘innerText’ in curLoc) { if (curLoc.innerText.indexOf(search_me)) break; }else if (‘textContent’ in curLoc) { if (curLoc.textContent.indexOf(search_me)) break; }} addImpression(168,32416);var clkHndlr = function(event) { addListenersForClickAround(168,32416, curLoc); };addEvent(window, ‘load’, clkHndlr);

The team at BrandBacker linked me up with Paula Dorf and I was sent the Aztec City Palette and a teal mascara to review, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I admit, I was skeptical of a palette that contained a teal shadow, but I was excited to try all of the neutrals in the Paula Dorf Aztec City Palette. As I figured, the neutrals are beautiful and great for everyday wear, but, guess what my favorite color in the palette ended up being?! The TEAL! It is gold flecked and gorgeous! Here is my full review!

From the Paula Dorf site:

Paula Dorf Cosmetics is a high quality collection of brushes and color cosmetics. Paula Dorf products are admired as the best in the business by fellow professional makeup artists, celebrities and most importantly, makeup lovers around the world. Our makeup philosophy is to empower women and is captured best in our signature phrase: Become your own makeup artist®

As you can see, the Aztec City Palette contains 4 more neutral shadows and the gorgeous teal shadow. The colors work so well together, as any palette should, and seem as if they were custom made for my brown eyes! Having brown eyes sometimes puts you at a disadvantage with neutral eye shadow palettes, that often seem to be made for blue and hazel eyes.

The palette comes with a double sided brush: one for general application and one for lining your eyes. It is the softest eyeliner brush I’ve used, and it was great for my water line! Sometimes I find that my other eyeliner brushes are too stiff for my water line, and are irritating. This brush made it into my “brush cup” for regular use!

Here is a description of the Aztec City Palette from the Paula Dorf site:

From the desert sand to the crisp blue sky this Aztec City Palette has it all! With just the right balance of professional and flirty, this palette lets you decide between knockout nudes, classy colors or a mesmerizing mix of both. These five shades allow you to customize your look and transform your mindset to the bronzed beauty of the desert. The sleek mirrored case also contains a specially designed double-ended brush for the perfect application. For a more dramatic effect, use with Paula Dorf Transformer.

Above are the photos of the makeup look that I created using the palette! I can’t stress it enough: I was so pleasantly surprised with the teal shadow! I used it on my bottom lash line and it made my eyes pop! The gold in the shadow adds a nice shimmer and. combined with the subtle color for the teal, is really pretty. I used the brown shadow as a liner and it made for a really soft, subtle line.

Here are the steps I took; I numbered the palette as a guide: I used number 4 over my lid, and added number 1 to my brow bone. I then used number 3 to blend the two shades together, and add a bit of shimmer and a subtle mauve color. Then I lined my top lashes and water line with number 5. Lastly I lined my bottom lashes with number 2 (my beloved teal) for a great pop! I used a waterproof black mascara on my top lashes and the teal mascara on my bottom lashes. This added another subtle hint of color, and further brought out my brown eyes!

The mascara is very fun, though the color is light.  It worked well on my bottom lashes. I would like to try it over my regular black mascara to see how that color plays off eyes done with a gold shimmer shadow.

If you are as excited about the Aztec City Palette as I am, and I hope you are, I have a special treat for you!

Right now, Paula Dorf has an exclusive offer for SnapGinger Readers: Use Code TEAL for a free Paula Dorf Teal Mascara with purchase! That means you can try the Aztec City Palette and get the Teal Mascara for free! Plus, you get free shipping with any $50 purchase on the Paula Dorf site! Why not pick up the palette for yourself and a few goodies for your friends?!

What do you think of the make up look I created with the Paula Dorf Aztec City Palette?!

Thanksgiving Station continues today on SnapGinger, with 15 scrumptious side dish recipes! 14 I’ve sourced from other amazing food bloggers around the web, and the last is my grandma’s famous cranberry sauce. I’ve also included a special Snap Tip to make you the most-loved holiday guest this season!

Click on each photo to view the recipes!

These recipes are sure to wow a crowd, your family will be so happy you’ve brought them! Last, but not least,  here is my grandma Stella’s (simple, effortless, amazing) Cranberry Sauce!

Stella’s Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

1 14oz can whole berry cranberry sauce (not the jellly)
1 8oz can crushed pineapple, drained

Directions

1. In a large bowl, add the cranberry sauce and the crushed pineapple and stir to combine
2. Serve and enjoy! You may want to make an extra batch as this will go quickly!

**SnapTip:
Whether you’re bring roasted veggies, a savory casserole or Stella’s Cranberry Sauce, make your hosts day by bringing it in a beautiful piece of serving ware, and leaving it there for the host to keep! I find great baking dishes, platters and cake plates on Amazon, at Home Goods and at Bed, Bath & Beyond, you don’t have to break the bank! It’s a little thing that goes a long way. The next time your host uses the dish you brought, they will think of you and smile!

How to Link Map an Image

I link map images as part of my day to day regular job, and I was so happy when I transferred that skill over into blogging! I link mapped my Winter Wish List for this post. and linked that baby up right! I also link mapped the image I use for my site navigation on my side bar, so it’s a really useful tool to have in your repertoire. Now, I’m here with the steps so that you can add a link mapped image to your blog! On we go!

First, you will need an image with multiple components you’d like to link to. Whether you’re featuring clothing, accessories, beauty products, home items, whatever, gather all of your images together and make a collage in PicMonkey or another photo editing tool. Make sure you save the links to all of the images you’re using, or any affiliate links you’ll be using. I like to copy and paste anything into an open Notepad file.

Second, upload that image to Google Photos or another host, and save the URL for the image. You get this by right clicking on the image, selecting “Copy image URL” and pasting that into the Notepad file.

Third, grab the code below, it will be your template for the code you will use. This one is built in for 3 clickable areas. To remove one area, remove the section of code that begins with <area and ends with </area>. To add additional clickable areas, copy and past any of the sections of code that begins with <area and ends with </area>. Paste that into your Notepad file.

Name of Main Image Name of Main Image Name of Main Image What you would like to display if the image doesn't render

Fourth, it’s time to get the coordinates for the clickable areas of your image. This is probably the most difficult part, but once you do this once, it will be smooth sailing! Just like on a map, coordinates are 2 numbers, separated by commas, indicating the location of something. In this case, we use four coordinates in pixels to represent the area that you would like clickable to a certain URL. Here are my steps to get them:

  • Open up your image in Paint. Decide which area you’re going to map first. For this example, we’re mapping the gray sweater. Note the total image size in pixels (px) on the bottom of your screen, we will need that for later. This image is 700x1000px (width x height).

  • In order to get the top two coordinates, place your cursor as close to the top left corner of the image as possible. In the bottom left hand side of Paint, you will see a set of coordinates in pixels (Here they are 525,232px) jot those down in your Notepad. We only need the numbers and comma, not the px.

  • In order to get the bottom two coordinates, place your cursor as close to the bottom right corner of the image as possible. In the bottom left hand side of Paint, you will see a set of coordinates in pixels (Here they are 699,440px) jot those down in your Notepad.  We only need the numbers and comma, not the px.

Now you’re ready to head to the code template I provided for you. Here it is all gussied up where I’ve highlighted the areas we will be editing. With all html, it’s a lot of repetition, so once you do one section, it’s a matter of repeating it over and over for each clickable area. I’ve included instructions on what to paste where in the “map” (<map to </map>).

You should have all of the components below in your Notepad file, and some of it will come from your head, like the image name and description, as well as the alt tag for SEO purposes. Where there are quotes in the code, always leave those, you’re only replacing what is inside the quotes.

I’ve indicated the 3 main parts you are replacing for each “area” (<area </area>): the image URL, the main image name and the image description. You will notice that there are 4 coordinates for each “area,” which you will have stored in your Notepad- you will paste those after coords= leaving the ” on either side, as well as including the commas between each number.

I spaced out my highlighted sections over the 3 clickable areas in this map, so as not to have my notes too jumbled together, but you would updated all 3 parts for each <area </area> in your code. If you have more than 3, you will need to update these parts more than 3 times.

For the last “image” portion (<img />) you will add in your alt text for SEO, your height and width from when you originally opened the image, and the same image map name that you used above, with the addition of a #. This is only done once per image, that tells the code where to get the pretty collage that you created.

All of the other code remains the same, and you can copy and paste this into your blog editor once you’ve updated the appropriate sections!

I hope this helps you all with link mapping- keep an eye out for more link mapped images here at SnapGinger, and more posts in Blog Life!

Fekkai Color Care for Hair!

I have been coloring my hair for 10 years, and I am always up for trying new color care products! When Influenster sent me out the Fekkai VoxBox I was very excited to try it! I received the Technician Color Care Shampoo, Technician Color Care Conditioner and Technician Color Care Conditioner Luxe Color Masque. The line was developed to protect color treated hair and repair it.

Here is a quote from the man himself:

“The right color flatters and enhances the face even more than makeup could. That’s why I went to such great lengths to develop products that will help keep color looking faithful.”
– Frédéric Fekkai

Fekkai Color Care Technician Line

Fekkai Color Care Technician Line

Here is my review of the products I tried out!

The entire product line I received smells like fresh squeezed grapefruit! I love a good smelling product to wake me up in the morning, and citrus is one of my all time favorite scents, its so refreshing!

The Technician Color Care Shampoo provides a nice even cleanse, without a lot of foam. I will definitely be replacing my current shampoo with this one as soon as it runs out! It’s so nice to be able to try a pricier product in advance before committing to the entire bottle! This is def worth the $17 price tag, especially since I don’t was my hair daily!

The Technician Color Care Conditioner is very thick and nourishing, and is wonderful for every day use. I almost didn’t need to move onto the Luxe Color Masque but I wanted to for that extra nourishment. This is a product I would purchase again! I do love my It’s a 10 Miracle Conditioner though!

The Technician Color Care Conditioner Luxe Color Masque is very thick and luxurious, it makes your hair feel like silk! After rinsing, you will think the product is still on your hair, not in a greasy way, instead, it feels super soft and smooth. This mask doesn’t leave any residue behind, only nourished hair! How easy is it to leave it on while shaving or washing your face, rinse and you’re saying goodbye to color-damaged hair! Here is a tip from Fekkai Salons:

Applying Technician Color Care Masque weekly is a must for an intense conditioning experience.

This line is composed of some really great products, which I have already picked up again. New hair color calls for new color care products! I am intrigued by the fragrance mist as well! (hint hint Influenster, send me some!!)

**Disclosure- I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes..  This in no way influenced my experience with the product- all opinions are my own, and I was not paid to write this review. If you would like to read more about my Privacy Disclosure click here. Thank you for supporting the sponsors that keep SnapGinger snapping!
